  • Must be on island (Oahu) for the mandatory leaders meeting/orientation in early/mid June 2018 and right before the first day of the program. 

  • Must be able to lodge (and share a room with up to 3 other students) in Waikiki for 9 nights and 10 days. 

  • Must be able to work long hours 

  • Must be in good health

  • Must have or be able to obtain Facebook messenger for mass communication

  • Responsible, flexible, good use of common sense, bright/energetic personality, professional mannerism and clothing

  • Excellent team-work skills; able to work well with others

  • Have interests in (at least some of) the following areas: education, intercultural communication, teaching English as a second language, international studies, Japanese language

  • Some knowledge (or at least awareness) in phonology, linguistics, English grammar, education etc.

  • Have prior experience working/volunteering with children; leadership skills

  • Can show that the experience will benefit them personally or professionally

  • Have some directional knowledge of the Waikiki area

BILINGUAL LEADER
  •  100% Fluent in Japanese AND at least 75% Fluent in English

  •  Capable of translating from Japanese to English and English to Japanese

  •  Walks around during workshops/lessons to make sure students are doing okay.

COMPENSATION

  • Hotel suite accommodations for 9 nights, 10 days

  • Daily meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) for 11 days

  • Admission to all site visits

  • Transportation between hotel and site visits

  • Monetary compensation varies by year
