Expansion to Kauaʻi Island and Beyond

Updated: Feb 10, 2021

Do you believe in fate? We do.

In many ways, the global pandemic nudged LbE Hawaii towards directions we have always wanted to go, but never had the chance or means to do so.

In the summer of 2020, we have decided to launch a new website called LbE Sustainability

with the intention of creating a platform where people around the world could learn, contribute, and collaborate with each other for all things sustainability.

Simultaneously with its launch, we launched a project within our internal joint LbE companies (LbE Hawaii and LbE Japan) to create videos about COVID-19 around the world. This project lead LbE Hawaii's own Kasey Emoto, a Kauaʻi island resident, to create a video about the situation in her island home.

This video caught the eye of a like-minded gentleman in Kauaʻi - Dr. Addison Bulosan, a man who wears many hats. With a simple friendly email to us, Bulosan wanted to virtually meet our team to talk story.

In a matter of months, we realized the great potential of partnering to bring more opportunities to learners on Kauaʻi, while stimulating the local economy in a sustainable way. Dr. Bulosan connected our team to the Kamāwaelualani Corp. along with his partner, Nicole "Nikki" Cristobal.

Instantly inspired, the LbE Hawaii team traveled to Kauaʻi (donʻt worry, we followed all necessary protocols to safely travel!) to physically meet the Kamāwaelualani team as well as to experience multiple sites and meet many great people.

Moving forward, in partnership, we look forward to providing experiences for the kamaʻāina, international, and national visitors of Kauaʻi as well as bridging Kauaʻi to the other islands and to Japan. We expect to pilot our first program in the month of March.

Finally, letʻs take a moment to appreciate the following picture. This picture was taken with the LbE Hawaii team at the exact same location Kasey filmed her COVID-19 video; which was the very video that connected LbE Hawaii to Kamāwaelualani. Do you believe in fate now?

We want to make these programs accessible to most local learners on Kauaʻi island. With our partnership with Kamāwaelualani, our partners have been able to apply for a grant to help kickoff our programs in Kauaʻi.

How can YOU support our programs on Kauaʻi? You can help us by showing your support in favor of our partnerʻs project: Koʻo Kauaʻi. Follow the simple steps below. It shall only take about 5 minutes of your time!
